Calyx Courses are designed and delivered by Calyx Consulting Co. Ltd., with the objective of providing persons across the Caribbean with cutting-edge, cost-efficient technologies to improve skills, competencies and efficiencies in key areas of agriculture.   Market surveys conducted by Calyx indicate unmet demand for trained persons in the green industries; for increased food security; and for aesthetically enhanced private and public spaces. Accordingly, the programme focuses on Amenity Horticulture,  Vegetable Production, and Agribusiness Management.

 

Courses are modular in design, are well researched, with sound scientific and technical foundation.  Equally important, they emphasize practical, hands-on training.    The Amenity Horticulture  programme is ready for delivery.  The Agri-business and Food Security courses are currently being developed and are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2012. 

 

The Amenity Horticulture  courses cover the knowledge areas that underpin most of horticulture, i.e., plant identification, propagation, pests and disease management, and landscaping, as follows:

 

The Agri-business courses incorporate modern business approaches and technologies and are aimed at improving the knowledge and performance of those engaged in day to day agricultural operations. Indeed, in these challenging times, Calyx Courses ensure that it will no longer be ‘business as usual’.

 

The Food Security courses listed below incorporate new, appropriate technologies to improve efficiencies and increase output from intensively farmed areas.
